Manthan

Manthan is the annual inter college street play festival organised by Verve. Through Manthan, we wish to make everyone realise the immense power each one of us possesses - the power to raise our voices against injustice, the power to go against the conventions which weigh us down, the power to fuel the process of change.

For Manthan ’11, we joined hands with the street play societies of 15 more colleges from Delhi University and Indra Prastha University and performed at more than 15 places all over Delhi. Manthan 2011 commenced on 1st February 2011 and presented an array of street plays at places in Delhi NCR such as The Great India Place, NOIDA, Shadipur slum [in collaboration with SIFE SSCBS], Jantar Mantar, TDI Mall, Rajouri Garden, Metrowalk Mall, Rithala, Carmel Convent School, Mira Model School and many more, successfully concluding on 11th February, 2011 at Dilli Haat, INA. As part of Manthan, cleanliness drives were organized at Jantar Mantar, in collaboration with Youth United Delhi, and at Dilli Haat. As a token of appreciation, all participants were given away colorful-portable dustbins, certificates and posters capturing some moments from their performances.
Joining our voices this year were the NGOs Goonj, Jamghat, Youth United Delhi and media partners Helter Skelter and The Hindu.
The public response at each venue was encouraging and constructive. To quote from the feedback we received, "If this is the moment we waited for, it is worth the wait. But make sure to pounce on the power you have, act now; speak now. We'll be the ones to put an end to this quest."
To see a change, you need to test your strength and push your limits. Verve aspires and works to inspire the world to invite such change. We wish everyone a strengthened and a 'changed' year ahead.
The audience’s enthusiastic response at all our performance venues reinforced our belief that change will come: all it takes is a desire to kindle the spark.
