About

Verve, the street play society of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, is a group of enthusiastic, energetic and informed youth who have got together to pitch in with their efforts to bring about a transformation of the ailing society of today. We chose street plays or ‘nukkad natak’ as our medium to communicate with the masses, as it offers us an opportunity to break away from preaching and instead presenting ideas in a satirical, humorous and a hard hitting manner.

We completed our fifth year in 2010, the year in which the society showcased its new colours, unbridled enthusiasm and passion.
The year kick started with our fuchcha Vervies joining the bandwagon. Proving that the young guns are no less passionate about what they believe in, they performed a fine act on the corroding corruption system at Rendezvous 2010.
The annual production of Verve this year highlighted our conviction for rooting for a cause that is much significant, albeit ignored, even if it means going against the trend. "Hum Kya Sikhaenge" our self scripted and directed street play on civic sense, was taken to various places, throwing light on the indifference of the masses towards basic civic issues, despite our knowing what is right and what is wrong. This initiative, brought to life by earnest efforts and long hours of practice sessions was well applauded. But the main aim, like always, was to cut across all barriers and reach out to every person witnessing each performance.

Rounding up the season on a high note, in an effort to retain the true, rustic essence of a street play, and in a bid to reach out to every man on the road, Verve organized the biggest and the most celebrated street play festival of Delhi University, Manthan 2011.
